Pray for rain.

Pray for rain.

Central Texas has had a record breaking summer when it comes to being hot and dry.

And after a long, dry, hot summer, on windy, hot days like today, this happens:

Here’s the neighboring Bastrop County fire.

Fires have happened in several locations near our neighborhood. The largest is the Bastrop fire, but the entire area where my previous school is has been evacuated. Hundreds of families are displaced while they try and fight a fire there. Just now on the news, it’s been reported that 25 homes have been destroyed. The thought ties knots in my stomach. All those families and friends our in our thoughts tonight.

So, next time you stop and pray, remember Texas. We really all the positive thoughts, prayers, or karma you can send our way…

The 10th Kingdom

The 10th Kingdom

It’s a three day weekend, and I’m still feeling pretty yucky with the head congestion and mini-cough.

So what does Jared let me do?

A Sunday movie marathon of “The 10th Kingdom”!

Did any of you ever see it when it came out as a miniseries in 2000? I think I must have been in junior high still. It was on for a couple of Sunday nights in a row, and I stayed up late to watch it. I absolutely loved it, even though my mom had a few moments of horror about some of the innuendos that occurred (I’ll admit, they totally went over my head at the time–it took me being an old, married woman to get a lot of it!).

Anyways, I’ve seen it a few times since then, and even Jared likes most of it (and makes fun of my liking it during the cheesy parts). Totally love it and recommend it, but you need to have a good day or two to dedicate to watching it.

I’m so sad that they never got around to making a sequel. It really was so well done, clever and creative. Maybe someday it will happen…

At least I hope they put “The 10th Kingdom” on bluray so we can enjoy it in better quality. 🙂 For now, we’ll enjoy the cheap DVD version we have. We only have about 2 more hours to go!
